Fall Dining Table Decorating

Fall Dining Table Decorating

Bring autumn's rich tones and elements into your home by decorating your dinner table with pumpkins, gourds and other fall items. If you are hosting a fall dinner party, create a warm ambiance by using harvest hues, such as gold and deep red; use the tones to add a splash of color to table settings or your centerpiece. Mix traditional fall items and colors with unexpected touches to create a dramatic table scape. Does this Spark an idea?

Pumpkin Decor

Pumpkins aren't just for Halloween carving and pies. Hollow out the center of a medium-sized pumpkin and remove the seeds. Use the pumpkin to hold dinner candles, or place a vase filled with fresh-cut flowers inside. You can use traditional fall flowers, such as marigolds and poppies, or go for an unexpected twist with deep purple tulips and deep red roses. If you prefer to used dried flowers, place florist foam into the bottom of the pumpkin and insert the stems.

Autumnal Elements

Add warmth to your dinner table by decorating with rich autumnal elements such as berries, pine cones and gourds. Fill clear glass vases with deep red cranberries and bright orange kumquats, and insert dried or fake flowers. Complement fall's warm earth tones by decorating with pewter containers for a natural look with plenty of country charm. Place sprigs of berries into the containers, and use pewter candle holders to display red, orange and gold candlesticks. Fill natural wicker baskets with gourds and pine cones. Consider replacing your polished dinner table with a rough-hewn wood version during the fall months to add cozy farmhouse appeal.

Harvest Shades

Get inspired by fall's vibrant jewel tones, which are reminiscent of the autumn sky, when decorating your dining room table. Use an opulent burnished gold tablecloth or runner, complemented by burnt orange cloth napkins; wrap a sprig of red berries around the napkin as a holder. Bring in outdoor elements by using a tiered plant stand as a centerpiece. Use the stand to hold terra cotta plant pots filled with red and orange flowers, brown and gold candles, cranberries, crisp red and yellow apples and a mix of colorful gourds.
