How to Decorate a Den Table

How to Decorate a Den Table

A family room, also known as a den, can be designed for comfort and entertainment. At the center of most dens is a den table, which can be paired with large chairs for a central seating setup. Gather friends and guests around your den table for an evening of debate, or grab a kettle of hot cocoa in the winter and enjoy hours of storytelling. Either way, decorate your den table to create a sense of style and family. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Customize your den table with framed photographs. Digital photo frames allow you to showcase a broad variety of photos without cluttering your den table with multiple frames. Match your digital photo frame to the style of your table for a more cohesive look. Purchase your digital photo frames -- which are available in colors such as black, silver and brown -- at large retailers and home design stores.

    2

Accent the table with a candle centerpiece. Select a votive centerpiece set of eight for a more contemporary look, or select a pine cone centerpiece for a more rustic look. Candle centerpieces are available in a wide variety of styles and sizes, so make your selection based on the mood and style of your den.

    3

Fill in empty spaces with pine scatter and faux sprigs. Flameless versions are available, so these festive decorations can be used near candles. Place the faux sprigs at the center of the den table -- near your candles -- or scatter them in rows down the length of the table. Place the decorations directly on top of the table or under a table runner.

    4

Add decorative coasters to protect your table when family and friends gather around for drinks. Purchase handcrafted coasters or customized varieties for a more unique look. Coasters protect woods from water damage and eliminate rings on glass. Purchase a set, or mix and match.

    5

Place a small basket at one end of the table. Fill it with brain teasers, a set of puzzles or magazines. Wooden baskets as well as baskets woven with twigs, rushes and thin strips of flexible materials are available at local home goods stores.
