How to Place Lamps on a Sofa Table

Place a level on top of your sofa table to confirm that it is level. Placing a lamp on an un-level table could result in the lamp accidentally falling from the table.

Move the sofa table to your desired location. Confirm that you have enough electrical outlets available or you have outlets close enough to where an indoor extension cord can reach it. Consider hiring an electrician to install additional outlets if one is not available. Do not run an extension cord across the room or under a rug, as this could damage the cord and possibly cause an electrical fire.

Place the lamp on one end of the sofa table. When you sit on the sofa, the lamp should be placed near your right or left shoulder. Placing the lamp in this position avoids shadows cast by your head on reading materials. Place a second lamp at the opposite end of the soft table, if one is available. Its position should mirror the first lamp's placement.
