Centerpiece Ideas for a Brunch

Centerpiece Ideas for a Brunch

When planning a brunch, table centerpieces can complete the atmosphere of the event. From an informal, whimsical centerpiece at a gathering of friends to a contemporary, elegant option for a more formal event, centerpieces can act as the final touch on room decor. Consider ways you can complement the table settings and food presentation in your choice of materials and display.

Herb Garden

When planning a simple brunch during the spring or summer, use a miniature herb garden to set a fresh, natural tone for your table. Use a low container, like an antique drawer, wooden box or shallow decorative planting dish, as a base, and pack the base with individual pots of herbs. Look for miniature pots and herbs with lush, leafy bodies to create a carpet of plants. The herbs will add color to the table and release a subtle scent during the meal.

Apples and Oranges

Near the end of summer and in early fall, take advantage of fruits to set an autumn-like feeling for your brunch table. Use a clear, glass serving bowl with a flat bottom or a platform serving dish as the base for the centerpiece. Only one will be necessary on a small table. Choose miniature crab apples or tiny oranges and find a candle that echoes one of the colors of the fruit. Place the candle in the center of the dish and pile the fruit around it. The top of the candle should stick out over the fruit, which can be piled above the rim of the dish.

Flower Tiers

For a brunch buffet table, use cupcake tiers to display flowers. Start with a white-tiered display and find egg cups in the same color and finish. In the egg cups, place short buds of seasonal flowers, sprigs of evergreen and holly in the winter, pine cones, or other natural materials. Fill the top tier of the display with three or four egg cups and line the outside of the bottom edge with additional cups for a dramatic look that can be customized to the season or holiday.

Antique Tins

Set an eco-chic feeling at your next brunch by re-purposing antique tin containers. Scour thrift stores or your grandmother's attic for tins with vintage prints on the outside surface. Choose a selection for each table, making sure to find varying heights, textures and prints. Pack each tin tightly with bright green leaves, short flower stems, bunches of wildflowers, autumn leaves or even fresh grass. Group the tins together on the center of the table for an eclectic, shabby-chic centerpiece.
