How to Build TV Table Plans

You just bought an incredible new television set with a crystal clear picture and audio. Now what? Like it or not, many living room setups are arranged around the household TV. Anyone who gives the least care to the appearance of a room won't be willing to prop their set on some cinder blocks and call it a day, but a dedicated TV table is just another unwelcome expense in the wake of buying an already pricey electronic gadget. A cost-effective solution is to build your own TV table, the plans of which are easy to draw up. Does this Spark an idea?

Measure with the tape measure the base of the television set and the space where you plan to place the table. Mark these measurements on your graph table. Create a conversion for the length of one graph paper square to actual space and mark this down in the corner of your graph paper.

Place the graph tablet horizontally and designate three pages for the design: one for a front view, one for a side view and one for a back view. On each sheet, draw the basic structure of the table, which will consist of the table top and a frame holding the surface above the ground. Use the ruler and mechanical pencil to make perfectly straight lines. For an open design, draw four table legs; for a closed design, draw two solid panel sides, a solid panel back and floor.

Draw shelf space under the surface and within the table frame. Take into account how many television accessories you have, such as a DVD player, DVR or gaming system. Make notes on how the shelves will be installed (nails, wood pegs, slats resting on L-brackets).

Finish a closed design by drawing in access doors to the shelf space. Draw small circles representing holes for electrical and audio/visual wiring on the backside drawing.
