How to Place Drinks on a Serving Tray

Whether you are waiting tables in a restaurant or entertaining guests at home, you will inevitably be tasked with arranging drinks on a serving tray. Many fear dropping or spilling drinks while they're carrying them, but this can be avoided just by placing them properly. Fortunately, there is one method you can use for any tray shape or size. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Make sure that your serving tray is clean, dry and dusted. You will not be able to clean it once you place the drinks on it, so ensure this is taken care of beforehand.

    2

Ensure that the tray is on a flat surface such as a counter top or table, and that it can be slid off of the surface without having to pick up the tray.

    3

Put one of your drink glasses in the very middle of the serving tray.

    4

Place drink glass toward the top, bottom, and both sides of the glass in the middle of the tray. The glasses should then be in a pattern resembling a cross.

    5

Finish setting up the glasses by filling in gaps and forming a checkered pattern--you should see one glass, followed by an empty space, and another glass. They should all be evenly spaced.

    6

Pour your beverages into the glasses after they have been set up.

    7

Gently slide the tray from the table half way. Place one hand underneath the tray, and continue to gently pull it until it is off the surface, and resting on one palm. Your free hand can provide support to the tray if it is especially heavy.
